Warranty Liability

My mother bought an electric wheelchair in Oct 2019 with a 1 year warranty.
It now has a fault and she called the company which supplied it only to be told by the person on the phone is the new owner.
On investigation it looks like the old company went in to liquidation at the end of Jan 2020. It looks like one of directors of the old company is listed as a director of the new company trading from the same premises but possibily under a different name.... He appears reluctant to return calls and is evasive when it comes to support / warranty so it looks like he's avoiding honouring it.
From a legal perspective, has the warranty expired with the old company? I have heard somewhere that this is the case unless the warranty is insurance backed. Where can I find out whether this is insurance backed; I presume there should be some policy documents if this is the case???
Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks

How did she pay? Hopefully the answer is Credit Card.0

Unless you can find documentation that says it's insurance backed, assume it's not.Is this warranty from the retailer or the manufacturer? If it's a manufacturer's warranty, contact them and see if they have another way to deal with it.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
@Ectophile This is a warranty from the dealer...@Doam Unfortunately not. A debit card!!After some digging it seems the company went bust, the engineer walked out before Christmas (don't know why) and then they took over another company (i'm not sure I want to ask
) and essentially it is a one man band who is particuarly snowed under. Finally managed to get a date for a visit and we'll wait and see whether his appointments are as reliable as him returning phone calls. Also, whether he's going to honour the warranty...
