DIY shed 9ft x 6ft

when I built my sheds I got 22mm loglap for a timber seller on ebay, maybe worth a look
as said EPDM for the roof (roof was 3/4 plywood), I also used their roof trims, buy the trim that looks smart not just the cheapest
I used an old wooden door & frame I had and an old upvc window that was here, so take a look at the free ads or ebay etc for cheap door/windows
,on all corners of the first one I built I put strips of wood (think it was 25mm x 30mmx height of shed) then run loglap up to the strips that protected the ends of the loglap from damage and easy to replace, on second shed I put ali angle (40mm x 40mm x height) I fitted loglap to the edge then covered with the ali angle

What good is that going to do in the 21st century ??I have a farmer friend that does the same and swears by it. They don't paint telegraph poles with Cuprinol, they use old fashioned coal-tar creosote.Have you ever seen a telegraph pole that is rotting?0 -
Creosote & engine oil are not the same thing for goodness sake !!

A lot of folk use a mixture of creosote/creosote substitute and old engine oil to help prolong life of wood, especially if it's going into the ground0

For the wood that touches the ground, it was treated wood that I also painted with oil.dld2s said:A lot of folk use a mixture of creosote/creosote substitute and old engine oil to help prolong life of wood, especially if it's going into the ground

It has taken some time, but it's coming along. It's looking impressive, even my daughter likes it. I need to finish putting the floor down tomorrow, order some more feather edge boards on Monday and make a door. Thanks.

I am wondering if I should be painting the outer feather edge boards, they are described as "tanalised timber".

So it will not react creating some gas. I was thinking of mixing a little home base shed protection with new car oil as I may not change my car oil this year.dld2s said:A lot of folk use a mixture of creosote/creosote substitute and old engine oil to help prolong life of wood, especially if it's going into the ground
Don't get me wrong the commercial stuff from home base does work but the next year it has moss over it.When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you. Nietzsche
Please note that at no point during this work was the kettle ever put out of commission and no chavs were harmed during the making of this post.0
