Broken washing machine 5 months old.

I purchased a washing machine from new at a main retailer and after roughly 5 months of use, the concrete in the machine has completely broken up and the machine is leaking.
I've made the company aware of this problem as it is still under warranty, however I don't have a receipt (it was home delivered). I'm worried that they're going to claim wear and tear or misuse or something. Previous to the washing machine, the old one lasted 7 years so I would expect giving that i know how to use a washing machine and do not overfill it, for it to last longer.

Has anyone else had this issue and what are my rights?

Most washing machines have a concrete block in them to stabilise to drum. That's why they are so heavy.

Did you buy it online - you'll have emails to prove when you bought it.
    Or contact the shop.
Sounds like a straight forward warranty claim - don't worry.

Apologies if this comes across as grannies eggs, but did you remove all of the transit bolts when you fitted the machine?

What does not having a receipt have to do with them claiming wear & tear?

They will know the rough age of the machine from the serial number. I have known the concrete not to be fitted properly & to break up as you have described. Call the manufacturer & get a man out to get it repaired or replaced.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
