Edf prepayment meter

EDF say my debt was never added to my account but on my meter it said ‘£xx for debt’ they’ve told me this was for a standing credit because I was in my emergency which I didn’t know! Now I owe over £1000! Can I challenge this?! ty

    Yes, you can challenge it.  But you need to be really clear about what has happened and what you think they have done wrong.
    The first step is a formal complaint to them.
    If it sticks, force it.
    If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
