UK passport advice needed

Hi all appreciate your guidance, opinion or expert advice on the following:
- My Female partner has previously had a UK passport on two occasions.
1. First passport applied 1986 and due to expire 1996 in her birth name eg Jane Smith
2. In 1997 she changed her name by way of a change of name deed at a solicitor and applied for a new passport in this new name eg Sarah Jones. Passport received in this new name, expires 2007.
in respect of point 2 she changed her name as a result of family sexual abuse. She wanted a clean break after family breakdown and court case.
in 2006 after a number of years of physical, mental and sexual abuse from her then partner she left the property they both shared with just the clothes on her back, no money, no belongings and the passport issued in 1997 was also left behind. She was admitted to a women’s refuge that night. As much as they could assist with getting her things she was too scared to leave a trail for her ex to follow.
That was the last time she saw that passport and it expired a year later. Since then she hasn’t had a need to travel abroad and used her DL for ID.
now her father has died (family abuser ) and she has reconnected with her mum and siblings she has changed her name from Sarah Jones back to a variation of her original name eg Janne Smiths. She doesn’t want the original name due to the sexual abuse from dad.
she has the change of name deed from Sarah Jones to Janne Smiths. And we are planning on going abroad for holiday. So she needs to apply for a new passport in the new name.
We plan on using one of the three express application processes. But the question is which one is the right one for her to use?
would it be the 1 week service after appointment as would her application be classed as applying for a passport with a change of name but also to replace a lost or stolen passport? Even though it expired in 2007 and she is not in possession of the expired passport would they still class it as replacing a lost passport, even though expired?

If she's not in possession of it, you need to send it to them, it's lost!0

Express renewal service may not be possible when the previous passport is not available for return (lost), whether expired or not. Exact info is surely available on website or by phone.Evolution, not revolution2

She won't be able to do an express renewal for a lost passport, no matter how long ago it expired.
She will first have to fill in a lost passport form to get a case reference then fill in a renewal giving details of all the different names she has used.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I suspect this is lost passport scenario and you can proceed on that basis. There is a Live Chat facility on the government passport online application process - it would be worth checking there for specific help. Can I respectfully suggest you edit your opening post and remove the detailed information about the lady's background issues which have prompted this enquiry - it is not necessary for the advice you need. A general outline minus the personal details is sufficient.0

Given there are no identifying details does it really matter!0

As it’s a lost passport the quickest option is the fast track service which takes a week. She can make an appointment online and the fee must be paid before the appointment is made. Get a paper form from the post office and fill it out in full. On section 3 explain how the passport was lost. She will need the form, 2 recent photographs - one certified by the countersigner who completes section 10, change of name deed and evidence that she uses that name for all purposes. Eg driving license, bank statement. She should give all her previous names at section 2 and explain what name her passport was in. So they can search for it.0

The re is no need to report it online first.0 -
"Given there are no identifying details does it really matter!"If it doesn't matter then there's no need for them to be posted - which was my point.1
