Beware "inclacs" website - very possibly FAKE

A seemingly legitimate website - which had a large (but reasonable) discount on an item I wanted.
However having later googled to find it, I read some alarming things - such as the Postcode it was addressed to not existing...which turned out to be true.
I contacted my bank...and FORTUNATELY they haven't taken the money from my Debit card yet...so the bank cancelled my card, and will re-issue me a new one.

£15.99 is quite cheap for a Roku Express.
Just keep checking your bank account every day to be sure they don't try to get the money from you.

If you are suspicious about a website, it's a good idea to check on the domain using a website like https://www.whois.net/
There are a couple of red flags with this website:
1. The domain was only registered on the 1st February this year
2. The ownership details for the domain are private. Most companies display the ownership details
3. The contact address on the website is an address in a tiny village in Devon
These things don't absolutely prove the site isn't legitimate of course, but generally they are not a good sign of the site being trustworthy.

I contacted my bank...and FORTUNATELY they haven't taken the money from my Debit card yet...so the bank cancelled my card, and will re-issue me a new one.Whenever I'm thinking of doing business with a company I've never used before, the first thing I look for is the 'about us' section.inclacs doesn't have one.The contact phone number they give - 078 3252 4875 - shows up on 'who called me' as belonging to:Flexbby Intelligent Workflows - Contract Workflow Management who 'easily automate creating and filling processes of contracts and documents'
And...Oh dear.Their contacts page also shows this phrase under 'leave us a message':Aenean massa diam, viverra vitae luctus sed, gravida eget est. Etiam nec ipsum porttitor, consequat libero eu, dignissim eros. Nulla auctor lacinia enim id mollis. Curabitur luctus interdum eleifend. Ut tempor lorem a turpis fermentum. Not sure what that actually means but Google found this:If you've ever used a layout program, you may be familiar with lorem ipsum, the block of dummy text traditionally used in page mock-ups to demonstrate how the finished product will look. The text looks vaguely Latin, and usually begins with the phrase "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..." before spinning off into any one of several variations.I believe 'gravida' means 'pregnant.I've found this interesting bit in their 'delivery' information:Domestic shipping (UK):
All purchases will be processed and shipped within 3 business days of order via USPS First Class, USPS Priority and DHL Express. Please note that during Sales & Season Launches, processing times can take anywhere from 1-7 business days. Customers will be sent a tracking number once the order has been processed. First Class Mail will take anywhere from 1-5 days (depending on your location) to ship once the order has been processed. Priority Mail will take anywhere from 1-3 days (depending on your location) to ship once the order has been processed.
Quincy Mae is not responsible, nor liable for any package that is lost or damaged once the package has been shipped. Lost or damaged packages must be reported to whichever carrier handled the delivery.
Who is Quincy Mae, you may wonder...?Apparently, it is a US company selling 'baby basics apparel and accessory collection'.Also from inclacs website:Sales Tax
UK shipments sent outside the state of California pay no sales tax. California shipments pay 8.75% sales tax at the time of checkout. Users are responsible for all sales taxes and other taxes on merchandise shipped to other states. One might wonder why a company (allegedly) based in Poyntington, Dorset would need a disclaimer about sales tax on items shipped from California to the UK.Hmmm.Has inclacs simply lifted text from other websites...?All the above would have had me running for the hills with my credit card tucked safely away in my purse.

A general question...I've never figured out how to be notified of new threads (like this one I created) on MSE - how do I receive alerts for those?0
