Hi all,
I wonder if someone could offer me an answer on this before I commit to sourcing one.
I moved into a flat and it has a twin cable serving a satellite dish so I bought a Freesat box, but although it finds 184 channels, no signal as there is a transponder problem. I then looked at the dish and it appears to be a Sky Q lnb which I believe in unsuitable for Freesat.....
So, I thought I'd get a guy in to change the lnb, but some guy told me just fit a Sky HD box. Could someone tell me if this would work? It would most likely be cheaper than getting a company out to modify the dish.
Thanks in advance
Russell

I take it the title should say Freesat rather than Freeview.russellm1972 said:Hi all,

Sky Q uses a different LNB than Sky HD+, if it is a Sky Q LNB then it will not work with Sky HD+ or a Freesat Box.0

Sky Q LNBs are in the name, they only work with Sky Q, it could be a Multi-LNB though you should check as if it is it works with Sky Q and Sky+HD or Freesat. Your post is titled ‘Freeview issues’ so do you also have a freeview connection? If you do you can get a similar version of the Freesat box with recording functions, etc. for Freeview0

As above, using a Sky HD box will be no good. It won't work with a Sky Q LNB, and it's pretty useless without a subscription anyway. You need to spend about £20 on a 'normal' 'Sky HD' 'Freesat' LNB, and get it fitted in place of the Sky Q one.
