What does "subject to terms" mean?

Renewed my tenancy beginning of 2020 and in the email it said my options were... 
6 months 
12 months 
12 to 36 months ( Subject to terms) 

Does that basically mean after the first year they can increase the rent if they wanted to?

    the terms are usually within your contract which you will have in full and sadly we cant see what is written in it

    the terms are usually within your contract which you will have in full and sadly we cant see what is written in it

    I don't have the contract myself as the care Company who support me with my mental health do all of that 

    I'm just concerned they may increase the rent again at the end of the year just as they did this year ( £30 increase) 
    However judging by the email it could be reasoned with as it said if you wish the discuss the rent increase further then call them up

    you need to know what the terms are before choosing option 3.

    If you don't have a copy of the terms anywhere, ask for them.
    It might, for example, be that there is a Break Clause at month 12 allowing you,or the landlord, to end the tenancy.
  • If it's in the contract about rent increases, then your LL is entitled to do so. As could happen in any rental.

    Comparing your previous flat, as you have done in another post, isn't of much use as this isn't the same flat, nor is it the same LL.

    I thought you were doing everything yourself now? If so, you should have all your paperwork.

    Its a company let so my care company take care of all that, yes I look after everything except my tenancy

    No - "Subject to terms" doesn't really mean that if you want to discuss the rent increase you should call them up.

    "Subject to terms" means that there are some rules and conditions that apply.

    You need to read the tenancy agreement to see what those rules and conditions are, or maybe ask somebody at your care company to read them and explain them to you. 

    The rules and conditions might be about rent increases, or they might be about something else.

    (You could ask the landlords to change some of the rules and conditions, if you want - but there is no guarantee that they would agree to.)
