Changing car on car insurance policy after already paying the annual premium

If I was to change my car on the policy to a car which has a lower insurance premium on comparison sites, but have already paid the annual premium on the current car, could I get some money back from the insurance provider?
E.g. I insure a Renault Clio for £1500 for the year as a one-off payment, I then buy an Audi A1 which is quoted at £1000 for the annual payment a month or two into the Clio's policy; I request to change the car on the policy where I'll have to pay an admin fee, but would I get some money back to make up for the difference in annual premiums, or would that only apply if the car I was changing to had a higher premium where I'd have to pay the difference?

If the car you changed to had a lower premium you would get a refund of the pro rata difference minus any admin fees.

Sfullen, it's very hard to say definitively on this. There might be better prices for the second vehicle but is it your existing insurer who's quoting? The only way you can find out is by asking your existing insurance provider

I would expect you would get money back, minus any admin fees as said by Wongataa.0

A caveat on that would be that the figures quoted on the price comparison may be for new customers.

And do remember before taking out an annual policy that if you intend to change your car or address or something it may be better to get a insurer who changes nothing for this rather than the cheapest.
