MSE Exclusive Deal Switch to Igloo Energy Pioneer
Options
Following the demise of Eversmart Energy, Ofgem switched me to Utlita.
In December 2019, I took advantage of the MSE Exclusive Deal Switch to Igloo Energy and the switch took place on 26th December.
My account in the Energy Club was updated around 6th February 2020 and I received an email from MSE Energy Club on 13th February 2020 stating that I was paying too much and I could save more than £200 by switching.
My question is why the MSE Exclusive Energy Deal which was advertised as:
"Igloo Energy Pioneer: 11,500 avail. Cheaper than the market’s cheapest + top service, save £333/yr on avg"
turns out, 6 weeks later, to be more expensive than even British Gas.
Am I missing the point somewhere?
This is very disappointing as I had great faith in Mr Lewis and MSE.

The market has moved a lot in the last couple of months.
Most suppliers have decreased their prices by at least £50, some companies by £100.
I find companies with only a variable tariff are less likely to decrease/change them than those who offer fixed.
As it is a variable tariff you can switch away without any exit fees,0 -

With those exclusive credits/cashback, the cost for an average user would have been £845 p.a.
It is probable that the MSE Cheap Energy Club no longer takes those credits/cashback into account to calculate your current tariff annual cost.
Furthermore, energy prices have fallen significantly (in particular gas) since November last year. However, according to MSE's latest email, the annual cost of the cheapest British Gas tariff for an average user would be £832 p.a (i.e. £1162 less £330)
So that is only £13 per year less than an average user would have paid per year back in November on the deal you applied for after taking into account the bill credit and cashback.
(this value does not include the possible £25 cashback you may earn from switching)
It is not clear how it is suggested you are saving £200 p.a, but this does possibly explain up to £125 of the difference (i.e. £87 on original tariff + £13 saving + £25 cashback)
What is vitally important to understand is that all the above are for an average user in an average rated supply region, but no one is average and there is no such thing as an average supply region, but to have taken the offer, you must have consulted the MSE Cheap Energy Club, so it would have given personalised details for you, in your supply region, based on your usage.
It is good to hear that Mr Lewis and MSE and their Cheap Energy Club have alerted you to the fact that an opportunity exists to save you even more money today, so it sounds like a job well done.

Has anyone received the £62 bill credit yet? Thought it was due around the 3rd month of billing.0

I haven't received anything from Igloo yet. Looks like I'll need to chase them for the £62.0

When I took the deal I remember there was the £62 credit. Should I get that thru Igloo Directly?
and as for the £25 cashback, who do I contact for that? as it's been around 5 months.
Thanks
The £25 is dual fuel cashback from the MSE Cheap Energy Club paid direct to your bank account (for those who pay their energy bills by direct debit), but that takes at least 3 months and can take up to 6 months.

Went through Moneysupermarket to change energy supplier on 26th April (From OVO to IGLOO) and had an Email confirming same day which said £62 was due 3 months after joining as we had come through MSE as their partner. Got an EMail today 7th May from Igloo apologising that they had made an error and the £62 was from a promotion that they ran back in 2019 and was no longer available!! Thought others AND Moneysupermarket should be aware of this as it was one reason for swapping to them!!
Really not fair with only 2 days to stop the swap (14 day cooloff period) and doesen't bode well. ? A con??0 -
I swapped to Igloo in December 2019 and am still waiting for the MSE £25 cashback. Tried emailing a month ago and got no response. Has anyone received theirs?0
