Lease Car Penalties - Brace for Impact..

Afternoon All,
I have been reading into the process of handing back the car following the lease period. My car is an Audi leased on a 36 month agreement. I have lost my lease agreement but found a standardised one online.
Through being Naive i have not serviced with an Audi dealer and has no entries into my log book.. all maintenance carried out by family friend..I am not here for a lecture i realise this is stupid to the highest degree.
I am 3 or 4 months from the inspection should i submit the car for a major service to my local Audi centre as it is technically due one approaching 30k miles.
In general the car has been well looked after but should i expect severe penalties? Any ways I can reduce these?
Thanks,

  • I think the sensible thing to do is to ask the dealer for a copy of the agreement.  That will set out what charges apply in your situation.  You can't go back in time but once you understand what penalties exist for what, you can make the decision about the due service.

    Thanks,
I fear this could be extremely costly, hopefully not too traumatic.
  • At least you have all the money you've saved from not having dealer servicing.  Hopefully that will go some way to paying any charges due.

Incomplete or missing service history £400 + VAT

Relatively new car without service history will be worth much less than the one with service history, so leasing company will get less money at auction.

  • Best get a quote on how much they will charge you to buy the car at the end of the lease.

That must have gone up, otherwise it would be a no-brainer, why would you spend a penny on 2 or 3 Audi services if it only costs £480 to not bother even changing the oil?
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Would this be a good option in general? Assume you can finance this purchase also?
  • As facade points out, that figure looks suspiciously low.  It's either very old or perhaps it applies to each missing service?

Get a copy of the paperwork and find out what your liability might be.

You can always ask them for a list of the charges. Best to be sure and prepared either way.
