Contents Insurance - Legal Cover

Hello

I am just sorting out renewing my contents insurance (private renting). And wondered if I needed to include the extra of Legal Cover in my policy? I know it's optional, but would it benefit me if I had it?

Thanks

  • Like any insurance, it will benefit you if you ever need to make a claim.
If you never need to claim,it will not benefit you at all.

Make sure to read carefully what is covered by it. Most cheapo Legal cover bolt-ons offer such a basic list of circumstances as to making them practically useless. They are only there to tick a box and get their quote on the comparison sites.

It would benefit you should you need a legal representation which is covered by the policy. Legal services are usually pricey pitted against a couple of £s for the insurance.
  • Thanks all.
The policy so far is offering £100k worth of cover for a £100 excess. For something silly like £6 a month, adding the legal cover onto of that really puts it up higher. Will read all the small print before I select the right policy, this one seems like it ticks everything so far.

£6/m is somewhat pricey. If memory serves me right, mine was about £25/year with Aviva and offered one of the more comprehensive covers.
