Miele washing machine heating element (probably)

We are on our second Miele washing machine. We replaced the previous one 3 years ago. We didn’t take out an extended warranty so we are dependent on the manufacturer’s two year guarantee. Unfortunately it appears the heating element is not working properly as every time we run the wash that requires heating, it trips the electricity. It’s absolutely fine if we do a cold wash.
We contacted the manufacturer and essentially have two options:
- Pay £139 for the first hour then pay for parts and any additional time on top at £80 an hour
- Pay £250 for this bit of work which is then guaranteed for a year, which includes labour and parts
- Buy a new washing machine.
- Fix it ourselves. Hmm, electricity and water......
We are a bit disappointed that the machine has only lasted three years given it was at a £500 cost. We wondered if anyone had any comments about experience with Meile repairs or customer service, or indeed whether there’s any point in just washing things cold and complaining to Miele that the machine shouldn’t have gone wrong, see if they’ll give a discount (though that seems doubtful).
Thanks.
Thanks.

There's another option. Get in touch with the retailer and exercise your statutory consumer rights and get them to repair it.0

At £500 this was a base model for Miele.
Either go back to where you bought it from and ask for a solution under the consumer rights act, or get an independent engineer to replace whichever part is faulty.
My Miele is now 15 years old at least!!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

The fifth option is to contact one of Miele's appproved service companies
Their labour is considerably cheaper and they have the same laptops and software that Miele themselves do.
(My understanding is that they will do warranty work for Miele on occasions )
