Car Insurance Cancelled

Hi,
I was involved in an accident (not at fault) and my car was written off. The claim went through a claims management firm (insurance company sent me to them) - Had an email from my insurer saying they are cancelling my policy and refunding me part of the premiums paid as the cars a write off.
When i take out a new policy for the replacement car, do I have to declare that i've had a policy cancelled? Or do I not have to declare this type of cancellation?
