  • Thanks for the advise brianposter
  • As above, you've obviously spent a long time chasing this and dealing with their mess - time you're allowed to claim back.
I'd be going after them for every penny of effort, a shame as my dealings with Currys have always been good in the past.

    Good luck!

If it was purchased in store - I would go in and tell them what has gone on, I spoke with a manager and explained I would not speak to Knowhow as there manner to me was belitting and would they take it over, I said it threw a bad light on the way I had always been dealt with by the decent staff he had in store.
While my item was only £400 it was all sorted and replaced.
Sorry I have come in a bit late with this

I was the tv engineer for Currys for 10 years, covering north east Scotland, I left them 2006.

I am shocked what their repair service has become. I never purchase anything from them after having a battle to get a refund on a new freezer that was delivered damaged.

Have to managed to contact their Head Office.

Failing that, the small claims is the way to go. Make sure you follow the correct procedure, a letter before action etc, the correct info I believe is all on this site how to proceed.

  • Update,   first thank you all for your replies, i had a email reply from customer service 26 Feb accepting they caused some damage to the tv when in transit back to them and they suggested i called customer service to try an resolve the matter, i was reluctant to do this because 4 previous calls were a waste of time basically all insisting the engineers report about tampering was final and nothing could be changed, anyway i gave it another go and the adviser i spoke to was very understanding he said he couldn't understand why they just didn't book it straight in for repair previously, not sure about the change of attitude all of a sudden ? he spoke to his manager and said they would recommend the tv be wrote off by the repair team when it arrives back with them, so its currently back with them but im still not confident things will go smoothly,
