Accidental fronting?? Help

A few weeks ago my husband went to see and test drive a car. He then called me to say it was great and he was going to buy it and bring it straight back and I suggested that I go online and get insurance as he sorts out the paperwork with the dealer. So I did and without much thinking I bought insurance with me as policy holder and him as named driver. At the time I didn't think it made a difference. However, he uses the car to commute and I only drive it occasionally and I since learned about fronting, which seems to be what I did! (Although this must have been the worst kind of fronting, I don't even know if it made it any cheaper!) Unfortunately, I also paid the whole year in advance (£970). The policy is with Admiral.
Do we need to get new insurance?

It doesn't matter who is the policyholder - either of you can insure the car. It only matters if the insurer explicitly asks which of you will be the main driver (ie the person who usually drives the car - not necessarily the person who took out the policy) or mentions it in their assumptions. If they do ask you must answer truthfully; if they don't you can assume they don't care.
There should be a summary of the questions you were asked and the answers you provided in the policy documents somewhere along with a note to the effect that you should check they are correct as any misrepresentations may void your policy. So read them and check they are correct. However last time I checked Admiral didn't ask about the main driver. Not all insurers do - some actively don't care or just price on the assumption that the most risky driver will usually be driving, which makes fronting a non-issue.0 -
Fronting is really about an experienced driver getting insurance in their name and naming an inexperienced usually much younger driver as an extra driver when in reality they are the main driver. As long as you ticked the correct use - commuting then I doubt it matters which of you commutes0

We used to have a car that my wife used daily but less than 5 miles. I would drive it round Europe in holiday time. We phoned up insurance companies and nobody would tell us who the main driver was. There seems to be no definition. They just kept saying "whoever uses it most".0

Say my wife did 5 miles for 300 days a year is 1500 miles. I would drive maybe 5k to 6k on holidays.0

Call the insurer and ask if you need to change the main driver to your husband.
