I Phone battery

The battery on my wifes I phone doesnt last long and needs charging usually by lunch time to last thye day. I enquired about an upgrade, which she doesnt really want and the monthly charge doubled for an I phone 7 but she is happy with her old 5S. A local shop wil replace the battery with a compatible battery for £20 fitted but my son said that they are not any good as Apple block them. Is it worth the gamble for £20.

They will not block them, £20 is a good price, get it done.1

I really don't think apple block them as they are well out of warranty anyway. At £20 its probably worth a punt.
It's quite normal to be charging multiple times in a day on an older phone especially as he iphone batteries where never very big anyway. Is the phone shutting down randomly when reading over 40%? If you can see the percentage drop gradually to zero then the battery is probably ok.0 -
No Apple dont block your phone
god knows where he's got that from lol
Hes right though, theyre not that good, but definitely better than what you have now ..
Id say you can expect it to perform about 80% as well as a genuine Apple one if thats worth anything to you .
Pay the £20 and get another year or so out of your phone

I seem to recall there was a time where Apple integrated the home button into another part (might have been the screen/digitiser) ... anyone getting a 3rd party replacement found that their device wouldn't work properly anymore. I don't think it was anything to do with the battery though. (A quick search suggests it was the Iphone 7 that had this issue).0

It's the TouchID sensor integrated in the home button. Perfectly reasonable not to allow a dodgy one when it's responsible fro payment authorisations etc.DoaM said:I seem to recall there was a time where Apple integrated the home button into another part (might have been the screen/digitiser) ... anyone getting a 3rd party replacement found that their device wouldn't work properly anymore. The myth that Apple block phones with aftermarket battery replacements stems from the fact that they disable batter health info for such batteries, not the phone itself, that would be ridiculous.
You can buy a replacement battery from Amazon/ebay for £15ish including all tools and replace it yourself. But seems like the local shop is charging more than reasonable £20 so you don't have to bother. They are not necessarily inferior to the "genuine" Apple batteries, they all come from the same Chinese factories after all.
Will 100% be better than the current state of affairs or couple of £100s for a new iPhone if this is the only problem with the current one.0
