Hi , i posted a few weeks ago asking for advice regarding applying for probate. My mother in law passed away just before christmas and i was named as an executor in her will ,i was unsure if i wanted to deal with it all , i asked for people's view's on this forum if i should do it myself or maybe use a solicitor , the advice i received from people on this site was excellent and so i decided to do it myself and here are the results. I printed off the forms i needed which were PA1A and IHT205 and spent some time getting them right with the help of the people on this forum, then i sent the forms off online which was pretty easy, i did the same with the form that i had to send to the probate registry, which was just a basic form to fill in,at the end they gave me an address to send off the original will and pay the fee which was £225 if i remember correctly. I was told that there could be a wait of up to eight weeks before i heard back from the probate people, well i just had an email from them which stated that probate had been granted and they will be sending me the probate letter within the next five days,so it took just under three weeks.
I just wanted to thank Bobziz,badger09,Xylophne,Robin9,Keepedalling,Lisyloo, and Non De Plume ( Sorry if i forgot to mention anyone else ) without your help and encouragement i dont think i would have got to this stage once again thank you all very much.
