In Home Display not working

Options
I am with Shell Energy. They were always sending me emails encouraging me to have smart meters fitted. I finally agreed as we are sometimes away when the meter readings were due so that would satisfy that need. Plus (the blurb states) that I would be able to monitor my own usage from a KW and cost point of view by consulting the IHD (In Home Display).
The meters were fitted on 13 January. Although the engineer? did not go through it with me or leave me any information I looked online for instructions for the SMETS2 meters that were fitted. Everything worked ok until 8 February when the IHD now only shows the gas consumption, no electricity usage at all. I contacted Shell and this is their reply "
This is in response to your email.
I am sending this to advise that with your in home display unit, we are currently aware of the issue that it may not be showing any usage or information. There is currently a communication issue with smart meters across the industry at this moment were the meters are not communicating. You are one of the few whos smart meters are communicating and it is only the in home display unit with the problem. We can raise for an engineer to come to your property and look into the in home display unit if you wish however I want to make you aware that there is no guarantee that this will make it work. Please advise on this.
SMS who fit our smart meters will look into the in home display units at a later date to ensure they work however the priority at this time is the smart meters themselves.

So, it appears that they are happy with the fact that there is a fault which may or may not be resolved. What a waste of time.

As far as Shell are concerned, they've done the 'iron fist' stuff to avoid being fined for missing their targets.  You now have a meter with the ability to charge expensive Time of Day rates at peak times when there's a shortfall in generating capacity, the ability to limit your usage to a few kW if you ignore the ToD deterrent, and the ability to disconnect you remotely if you still refuse to conform.  (It's all detailed in the smart meter specification, I'm not inventing things.)
The velvet glove (your shiny IHD toy) has successfully done its job as the bait to get you to accept a smart meter, so its correct functioning is not important.  Gotcha !  It's like a bee that's stung you and died.
