When I changed my gas hob to induction, nearly all of my old pans were suitable for induction (I only had to replace my frying pan ).SPC # 115

Ah bum! I've just tested my pans and they're all magnetic. They were a present for my first marriage. Looks like I am destined to have the bloomin' things forever!Cinders: said:When I changed my gas hob to induction, nearly all of my old pans were suitable for induction (I only had to replace my frying pan ).

Also check that the gas MIGHT be connected to the plug in bayonot fitting in the wall so to disconnect you only give it a turn and it comes out and huts the gas off.

Newer hob (elec or gas) seem to have different specs ( i.e require more clearance ) at sides and height above hob compared to older devices
Not sure if or how that affects retro fitting a new hob into an existing kitchen ? can you still do it ? - do you need to comply with the newer hob spec ? What if there is not enough clearance according to newer items spec ?1 -
I was disappointed too, I was looking forward to a brand new set of shiny pansAh bum! I've just tested my pans and they're all magnetic. They were a present for my first marriage. Looks like I am destined to have the bloomin' things forever!

We have done this in a previous house, fairly easy DIY job as the gas was a plug in and the electric oven supply was 30A.
But in our present house we changed the old gas hob for a new modern one with a glass top, easy to clean and looks good.1 -
I wanted an induction hob but as my double oven was underneath, there wasn't enough clearance so I had to have a ceramic hob. Apparently, there has to be a minimum space between the hob and the oven for some electrical/magnetic reason."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
