This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone
So sorry to read about how many of you are poorly. Hope you soon feel a lot better.
The stormy weather woke me up this morning but I think it has calmed down now. We have had so much flooding locally along with trees down and landslips. How I long for a bit of sunshine, I have my SAD lamp but it is not the same.
Phoebe has just left for work and will finish around 2pm. I had a chat with her yesterday as I am concerned that she is isolating herself again. The only people she talks to are us or her work colleagues. All of her friends are no longer in touch due to going off to Uni or moving away etc. She says she doesn't care but I am worried about her.
Steve put a joint of beef in the slow cooker before coming to bed last night and now the house smells wonderful. It must have driven the dogs potty and I am doing my impression of a Bisto kid. We will have a full roast dinner when Phoebe comes home. I had shopping delivered yesterday as I am going to try to follow the Mediterranean diet from tomorrow so have salmon and mackerel, loads and loads of salad and veg, Greek yoghurt and nuts, olive oil and berries. I am bored with the same old salads so will have fun making some delicious new ones. I also ordered a couple of cookbooks to give me some ideas. Steve is being very supportive although there was a lot of muttering when he was trying to tetris the shopping into the fridge.
Right, I am off to make some breakfast. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Good morning, and thanks for starting Dumpling.I hope Phoebe will be all right - do you think her saying she doesn't care is just bravado? Difficult isn't it, trying to help without annoying or upsetting the person.I'm with Steve on the muttering - I have a built in, built under fridge which is small, andoccasions a bit of language at times. Looking back, I wouldn't have a fridge like that now, it's ok for day to day, but try to get anything extra, or large in, and you end up doing a TetrisThe weather was terrible yesterday, as it was for everyone, I don't know what is forecast for today though. The house is a bit of a tip, but I don't know why, there's only 2 of us. W,e should tidy today but I feel massively disinclined, don't know why. I probably need a boot up the arris.Anyway I'll stop moaning on, and hope everyone has a good Sunday. Nelski, thinking of you and your vicious physios, and RR with your MRI tomorrow.Take care folks12

Morning everyone
dumpling - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very blustery, wet underfoot and lots of laying water and still raining.
DH in the bath, I'll be heading to the shower in a mo, DS2 now up and organising himself a cuppa and brekkie, DS1 still in his pit. I'll organise my porridge once I've had a shower.
Lunch today will be roast pork, I remembered to get it out of the freezer last night, it's a large joint so will take a while to cook, I'll do the usual trimmings with it. Dinner last night was a cheeky chinese takeaway which was enjoyed by us all - as we so rarely have one nowadays. We visited both sets of parents yesterday so don't need to do that today. It'll be a chill day/
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks DUMPLING. I think I would find the Mediterranean diet easier to follow if we had Mediterranean weather to go with it. I am sick of wind, gales and never ending rain. And we have yet to get heavy snow!
Not a lot planned for today but I had an AgeUK bag shoved through the door on Friday, due to be picked up filled tomorrow, I already had a few things waiting for their next collection so will try and add more to it today. If I put my mind to it and was a bit more ruthless I am sure I could actually fill about a dozen bags!
It's not light enough yet to survey any gale damage hereabouts but there's sure to be some after last nights battering. At least we are too high up for floods but it might be a different story down in town.
Hope everyone is keeping safe and ((HUGS)) for all in need/want of them. Thinking of the poorlies and sad. Wishing you well for the scan tomorrow REDRUBY. Take care all xx

Morning all, it has been very wet and windy overnight and the ground is pretty saturated. It has stopped so I have put out food for the birds, the birdtable is in a corner to protect it from falling over. I'll move it back once the wind dies down.
Red Ruby I'll be thinking of you tomorrow
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back13 -
Morning All,
Well storm Dennis managed to get up to the wind speed of 25 mph yesterday without causing too much damage.
Today have to visit mom as I did not manage a visit on Wednesday.
The rest of the day will be just tidying house up and doing some paperwork
Have a nice Sunday all

Hello x
I was woken in the night and molly doggy who is 16.5 years old and very fragile decided she had to go out at 2.30 am to investigate the winds, I went out to rescue her had to get DH up to rescue me!!! Anyway the wind has dropped. Hope you all have a good dayx
Red Ruby good luck for tomorrow xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.13 -
Morning
Lovely long lie in today. No terrorists on a Sunday so I think my brain relaxed. Had a long wobbly shower and whipped the bedding off for a wash. My friend is popping round today to put new bedding on for me ....i always said I would love to not have to do my bedding change as my worst job but today I would do anything to be able to
Sausage casserole and crusty bread was lovely last night just what's needed in this nasty weather. All calm now but forecast more later. Tonight will be turkey roast although I don't think I will be able to peel the spuds so jackets may be the substitute
Sad to read about Caroline Flack. Such a waste of a young talented woman I hope the papers are ashamed but I doubt it
Rubes...huge wonky hugs for tomorrow in case you're off early. Positive vibes on their way
Have a great day all
