Don't forget to talk to the Housing Options team at your local council as you are potentially homeless.MTDancer said:Thanks everyone. Going to speak to stepchange
You may get the runaround as you actually have some sort of roof over your head at the moment, but that could change quite quickly depending on what decisions are made about your current accommodation. Just have everything lined up before you press the button.
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere

Keep in mind that where a caravan is being used as a 'sole or main residence' then the caravan will, in most cases, be subject to its own council tax charge.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Technically yes but when people are asked if this is being used as a 'sole or main residence', surprisingly they say no. There are a lot of "holidaymakers" on holiday parks who leave for the "beach" in all weathers just before 9:00 and return from the "beach" at just after 5:00.CIS said:Keep in mind that where a caravan is being used as a 'sole or main residence' then the caravan will, in most cases, be subject to its own council tax charge.
It's one of those look the other way until housing in the UK gets sorted. This is why the OP may get the runaround if he states he in under threat of homelessness while living in a unit that is not designated as a "home". For their purposes it will be.
So the same situation gets defined in 3 different ways depending on who you are talking to.

I had to live in my car for over a year - but as it was an estate I made it into a camper and still live in it - comfortable and freedomMTDancer said:Bankruptcy is looming and when landlord sold our house we moved into our caravan to minimise expenditure.
We are registered to vote at sons house but couldn't live with him as no room.
Does anyone have experience of filing for bankruptcy whilst living in a caravan?
