I'm being switched to Yorkshire energy beginning of next month. Not received a login and password yet? Can anyone advise if this is  normal? I'd like to give meter readings each month like I'm doing now

Yes its normal, I have recently changed and it was within a week of change over that I got a password.
  • Presumably you're still in the cooling off period. Things will get moving once that's over.

My switch to Yorkshire Energy completed about a week ago.  I was invited (by email) to set up an online account a few days before the switch took place.

You can enter meter readings via their website after your online account is up and running.

Providing regular meter readings is good practice.  I see many messages here posed by punters who have come a cropper after not doing so.

Word of warning: I was previously with Breeze, and Solarplicity before that.  Both went bust.  Just saying.

    With Yorkshire and happy
    BUT
They have an odd way of billing if a meter read has not been sent, and the Bill is Estimated
On the next bill for which a Meter Read is given, they cancel the Estimated bill and combine  that reading into the new Bill - All well and good, except that they don't cancel the VAT paid on the first bill, and the VAT on the new bill only covers the new useage on Bill No. 2 - It takes a bit of work with a calculator to check the figures

  • My switch to them was completed on the 31st Jan 2020 however I advised them that the house would be unoccupied from the 26th until the 10th Feb and sent them the meter reading on the 25th Jan which were effectively the final readings for the purpose of change over. They ignored my readings and estimated their own (which were incorrect) and advised my previous supplier that they were the final readings resulting in a higher bill than it should have been. It is now a week since I advised them of their error and asked them to correct matters - no response whatsoever. They are an absolute shambles and I advise anyone to avoid them like the plague

It's not Yorkshire Energy's fault, it's the mysterious industry body that's calling you a liar.
