Trying to replace a pendant with an Ikea pendant. It seemed straightforward enough and gave checked all the wires are in properly but it only switches on for a second then goes straight off! Can anyone help?

1. Was the old light an incandescent and the new a LED?
2. Is the switch a dimmer?
3. Most dimmers suitable for incandescent lamps won't work with LED (or indeed most low energy) bulbs.0 -
Yes new light is LED E27 bulb. No, not a dimmer.0

Fit a plug to the light and check it with a socket. Preferably with a 3A fuse.0

I'd try the bulb in a different fitting - it will probably do the same thing which indicates that it is faulty.1
