Does paid holiday count as a work day?

I work different hours and days every week
I don't know what I will be working until the following weeks rota is released
according to the government website I am allowed either one day off every week or two days within a fortnight
My first question is do I get to choose which of these I get?
second question is, several times when I have booked a day off as holiday the rota will come out and my employer will use the day I have booked off as the only day I have off, so I'm wondering if paid holiday counts as a work day and if so do the previous rules still apply

If you book some days off as holiday but the rota has you down for as many work days as normal are you sometimes down for fewer days you didn't ask to take off? Otherwise you are working too many days.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

As far as I can tell normal unpaid days off are not given as an average though, the entitlement is 24 hours every week or 48 hours every fortnight0 -

So if you take 1 day as paid holiday and work the other 6 days of the week, do you get 7 days pay for the week?

They can't count your rest day as holiday. If you take a days holiday you should have two days off that week.0

It will depend on how many days in that particular week you have been paid for - a paid day wouldnt be considered as a rest day regardless if you attend work or not1 -
