Apologies if this is in the wrong section.....
looking for a clear answer as i’ve found conflicting answers.
i get a car allowance through my job (i am NOT self employed). i get the allowance in my monthly salary and this is taxed as normal.

I lease a car as a personal car so i pay vat on the monthly lease also.
i probably do about 25k miles a year and i’d say less than 10/15% of that is personal mileage. I’ve been told i can claim some of the vat back on insurance and lease costs as the vehicle is mainly used for business purposes. I can’t find a definitive answer! Any help?
note, my company pay for the diesel and as i log mileage i get charged the personal mileage, so not worried about petrol/diesel vat claims etc.

Try the cutting tax forum and the employment forum, rather than the benefits board.
