I had to get an IDP for a trip to the Far East. Finding a PO that would do one was a pain as well as having to go at the time the person who could them was in!0

Yes, it is - since your UK licence isn't sufficient alone... The US never signed the 1968 Geneva Conventions on Road Traffic, so you do need a 1949 IDP. The only time this is likely to be an issue is if you need to produce it following a collision or police stop...Jumblebumble said:
