Whirlpool flood claim help

We recently had a hotpoint engineer out to repair our washing machine, after he left if flooded our kitchen, I phoned and he came back and put on a pipe he’d left of. Our flooring is now lifting at numerous joints due to soaking up water and the bottom of numerous units are swollen. There engineer has admitted causing the flood however hotpoints claims department have said they will only pay a maximum 60% of the repair to the flooring (as it is 4 years old) that the unit damage is superficial and that I need to do all the leg work getting quotes etc. We were also left to sort out the initial flooding ourselves ie soaking up the water, days of electric heaters and a borrowed industrial dehumidifier. So basically there engineers mistake is going to cost me time and considerable money as well as having to pay for the initial repair to the washing machine. Our house is up for sale so we need to get it repaired ASAP as can’t have potential buyers tripping over the lifting floor however the claims department say they have 28 days to make a decision after recieving photos of damage and quotes. Do I have any way of pursuing them to sort out and pay for the repair in full or do I have no option other than to do it there way and take whatever payment they deem acceptable?

As above, doesn't your insurance cover this? In any event I don't think getting the work done immediately is unreasonable or ought to adversely affect your claim, except to the extent that they can argue you didn't mitigate your costs.0
