  • Hi summertime 08. There are some solicitors that will give some form of free advice ( usually a 15/30 min appointment. you can ask your local citizens advice beauru who will have  list in your area. always best to have a good read of info available though to see what the bond of caution entails.

I am completing Form C1 as the niece and executor of my deceased aunt and would like help with the wording of Question 1 in the Declaration section.  I need to state where she was domiciled.  Do I enter "Sheriffdom of North Strathclyde in Scotland" or "Sheriffdom of North Strathclyde in Scotland at Greenock".  Any help would be apreciated. Thanks
You only put the Sheriffdom no need for the name. When you are docquetting the will you would start with At Greenock (presuming this is the sheriff court you will be presenting the confirmation to.)
  • Trying to complete the c1 and c5 forms the in heritable amount is just brings it into large estate.  Do I need to send details to hmrc or just to the commisionary sherif Court?

    Just the sheriff court.

(If you had to fill in an IHT400 form then it would be different.)
  • Edinburgh sheriff Court is so picky I got all my forms back as I had update bank accounts, which although branch was in Scotland the head office was down south.  They said to apply for probate in england.  Although a solicitor friend advised me to list cash, furniture and jewellery in Scotland as moveable estate? Do I just list as an estimated value for all?
  • Gegs7072. Hi don't know if you had answer to your query but under headings estate in Scotland. Property first ( heritable estate) then heading moveable estate  I put cash as a separate amount and personal possessions as another and state as an .estimate by executor. For bank accounts list Scottish headquarters one under Scottish estate . and the English headquarter ones under estate in england and wales.
