Read yesterday Amazon scam phone calls were doing the rounds.Even if you are not a customer, they ask you to renew you account for £39.99 and give you over to a fraudulent account manager.  They are just after your bank details   Do not press1 Just had one this morning and hung up.

Absolutely. The fake "renew your Prime subscription" call has been around for months yet Amazon has done nothing about warning its customers when they log in. However, it would likely be more helpful if this particular topic title had read

Press 1: DO NOT DO IT

That's because the Amazon scam call like so many others depends for its ultimate success on the person who answers the phone being daft enough to go ahead and comply with the request of a recorded voice to Press 1.

No Press; no scam. The attempt failed.

We're getting a spate of "Press 1" scam calls at the moment, maybe it's something to do with the weather.

It's such a lame attempted scam; they don't even get the amount correct. Also, a lot of them were in dollars.

If you get any phone call out of the blue and you don't recognise the number just hang up, if it's genuine they will usually call back even then beware the accented caller.
