Tesco No Claims Discount 9 years maximum

I've been insured by Tesco for the last 12 months and they only recognise up to 9 years claim-free motoring. As a result my proof of no claims is only 9 years.
Using GoCompare with 9 years NCD the best price is £60 more than the price with 20+ years NCD which is what I actually have.
Is there any way to prove 20+ claim-free years when Tesco only recognise 9 ?
Thanks,
Steve

I do my dad's car insurance for him and have done for about 10 years as he used to pay what ever the insurance company asked for.
He was with Tesco a few years back and after 1 year left and he has had 3 or 4 different firms.
Last October he was with Tesco and I got him a cheaper deal with Bymiles on a PAYG insurance.
His Tesco insurance had him as 9 years NCD but he was sure it was more than that so we put in 12 NCD as we counted back the years to the last time he claimed.
I was doing my pc a month ago to upgrade to Windows 10 and it would not upgrade so I had to wipe all and install clean. Before I got an old hard drive to clone Win 7 onto it. Before that I checked the old drive and there was loads of old stuff on there and I noticed a Tesco car insurance pdf and opened it and It said 8 years NCD on the proof of NCD from Tesco so working it all out he had 14 years of NCD and not 12 so it might be worth checking old car insurance documents and proof of NCD.
I am not sure if telling your insurance co you have 12 years NCD on a quote invalidates the policy if you have 14 years of more but I am sure somebody will come along and correct me.

It is annoying but most insurers simply don't give any additional discount for more than 9 years NCD. In fact more than 5 years is usually only an extra 1 or 2% discount per additional year.
I would be careful to only declare 9 years if that's what Tesco have provided you with. Don't declare 20 years as you technically don't have this anymore. They might ask for proof and they certainly will do if you need to claim.

Hastings just have up to 9 too. This seems to be becoming more common.
I have 16 years NCD but I think my last 4 policies have only said 9 because their data goes no further.0
