FirstPort/Peverel may be VERY seriously harmful to our elderly people.

I, also, agree with The Nice Englishman. Keep the digs at FirstPort off this thread and concentrate on the process here

Why do you keep repeating that I can't possibly know what I'm doing-----tho I'm sure you have my best interests at heart, I went to a good university and have a history in dealing with both legislation and people. What I am looking at now is not rocket science even though it has challenging complexities. The worst that can happen is that I get no support or fail to achieve goals,in which case I will help my ageing aunt to move to a place that is run by a reputable management company, rather than by the antithesis of everything that is fair and honest.
As you have seen, the more I have delved into FirstPort and its predecessors, the more angry I have become that these people can be allowed to get away with what they do, especially to a generation I revere. So I firmly believe that the raging publicity about FirstPort should be stepped up , as the spanglefish site does, as the "Watch FirstPort " does, as the Facebook group do, etc. They cannot simply be allowed to change their name every few years and wait for their history to whither away from google and other search engines. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing blah blah.0 -
I didn't say you don't know what you are doing
I said this
"I am still not sure that you really grasp all that is involved here".It is a lot that you are having to take in. Have you read the links I have given you a couple of times?. I have been through the buying a freehold and while it does seem quite straightforward (and I still think RTM would be the better option) there are a few nuances etc and it is time consuming. I just feel that you are rushing at something that is a really important step for a lot of people
Anyway I'm out. No-one has said you shouldn't rage at FirstPort. What we have said that it would be better to separate the constant attacks on them into a separate thread so it's easier to concentrate on the issues around the residents getting control
I hope it works out well for your aunt and the rest of the residents1 -

But I thank you for all the useful info links you have provided and your first-hand experiences. I wish you well, and will send you a private message in 2030to let you know how the project is progressing. Cheers.

A link that I think a lot of folk, especially the elderly, who are worried by this issue might find interesting-----and let them know they are not making a storm out of a teacup

For those previous posters who were interested, I will try to update you as and when there are any developments. The latest move has been the creation of a "working group" of members who are prepared to put work and effort in to get rid of the disastrous FirstPort/Peverel. This follows a very discreet "sounding-out" of most residents ,who were almost unanimously agreed that FirstPort/Peverel is the worst company they have ever encountered and who are desperate to lower their inflated Service Charge by changing to a different and reputable management company for the first time. More to follow in due course.0
