The amount they should have asked for was £37.40, what they printed on the form was £7.40. This is for magazine that I usually pick up for £1.50 at the newsagents. This subscription was for a period of 6 months. I was quite happy just picking it up on a weekly basic, but my husband saw the offer, so I thought I would try and see what happens. I do realise that accidents do occur, just trying to find out who has what rights.
Ok, I think that comes under the category of an obvious error. So no enforceable contract.
  • Many thanks for your help. Have never tried subscriptions before, so appreciate the help. Will also tell other people how helpful this forum is. There are people with far bigger problems, that really do need places like this. Many thanks to all that have helped. I have decided to phone, and accept what they offer me.

£37.40 was only a saving of £1.60 over 26 weeks ... hardly a generous offer. £7.40 as an offer for a new magazine subscription isn't so clearly an obvious error (IMHO).
  • Slightly off topic but my library offers free subscription to a magazine app which is a bit like readily called RBDigital.

Might be worth seeing if yours participates in the scheme and if the magazine concerned is available on the app.
Would save you even more money then!

19% of the cover price (or 28p per magazine including postage) sounds implausible to me.

For magazine subscriptions, such a discount is not at all implausible for a new subscriber ... been there, done that. It's not unusual for a new subscriber to effectively be given the magazine free for a few months.
