Feeling trapped overpaying due to my Smart Pre-payment meter!

Ok, Im getting really frustrated at the moment with my Gas and Electricity.
I am currently with British Gas, and have been for some years. I have smart pre-payment meters with them for both my gas and electricity. Until recently this has worked for us, but now we are seeking a better deal. Have been offered some substantial savings with Bulb and Octopus... My trouble is that neither of them will take on Smart Pre-Prepayment customers. Yes, they will do Smart Meters, and yes they will do Pre-Payment meters, but unfortunately they wont do Smart Prepayment meters - This seems to be the case for ANY of the suppliers that offer me savings.
BG wont switch me to Post-pay without a SUBSTANTIAL charge to have my meters switched (and why would they, when Im stuck with them as long as I have their meters installed?).
I am aware that other suppiers MIGHT be able to do the supply transfer for me, but these are all more expensive, thus no saving- obviously not something I want to do!
This feelss REALLY unfair. Almost like I have been trapped in a more expensive supply, with no realistic way to leave!
Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do to overcome the problem? Any and all helpful insights will be gratefully accepted!
