I had a bank account when I was 18, sold the life insurance and critical illness cover too. I tried to pursue the bank to claim previously myself but got my claim dismissed. I still feel I was miss sold would I be able to try again or not?

On what grounds do you feel you were mis-sold?
How much was your claim for?
On what grounds was your claim turned down?
When was your claim turned down?
How was it turned down? In writing, verbally?

Hi I was told it was because I was a valued customer and that I would have mobile phone insurance etc included. I tried to claim but because I hadn't registered I couldn't claim. My claim would have been for around £3500. It was turned down a couple of years ago, over the phone and because I 'had the paperwork so could have returned the account to a standard account at any time and they couldn't find any evidence of mis-selling or pressure selling' I since left it at thatcolsten said:On what grounds do you feel you were mis-sold?

It will guide you the rest of the way to the Ombudsman if needed. There's no cost involved for you, just a few minutes of form filling.Depending on how you framed your previous complaint, you might have reduced your chances of getting a succesful outcome this time, but it's worth a try.Good luck!

Worth checking exact dates of account opening (when the alleged misselling occurred) and closing/downgrading (when you're deemed to have been aware of it), since any complaint to a financial institution can legitimately be rejected on timebarring grounds if raised:richpeate said:

Many have had misselling complaints rejected on such timebarring criteria, regardless of the merit of those complaints, so if you stopped paying for the packaged account over three years ago then chances are your claim would fail again....more than:
(a) six years after the event complained of; or (if later)
(b) three years from the date on which the complainant became aware (or ought reasonably to have become aware) that he had cause for complaint;0 -
Thank you I am at work so will look into specific dates later0

From the MSE resolver tool,
1. You were wrongly told you had to get it, eg, to get a mortgage
2. You were too old for the insurance or had a medical condition
3. You were misled into taking out the account
4. It hiked the price and didn't tell you
5. The fee was added without your knowledge
Did any of this apply to you? Packaged bank accounts aren't bad in themselves, they can save folk a lot of money than getting individual insurances.0
