I want to stop claiming universal credits.

Hi i wish to stop claiming uc and wondering if this is possible.
Do i need to give them a good reason to want to close my claim or do i write in the journal i wish to stop claiming or do i need to phone someone?

Just leave a message in your journal asking them to close your claim.0 -
Sorry but i disagree. It will help us to understand the reasons why. The OP may have found work, which could be the reason to want to stop UC. If they end their claim in the middle of an assessment period they won't receive any money for that month._shel said:

You simply have to tell then you wish to close your claim. If you have been receiving UC it should then be closed from the first day of the next assessment period.
Just in case journal message is not seen you may wish to ring them too.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1
