Student overdraft

Options
My daughter has received a letter from hsbc about her dormant bank account. Apparently for the last 10 years they have been adding interest on , now the debt is £500.00 this is despite the fact that she opened another account with them years later. She did not realise she had this overdraft. Does anyone think this is unreasonable, should she complain?

It does seem unlikely that in 10 years she's never had a statement, letter, email or text about this? If not, then a complaint is the way forward
