Estate agent I D checks

Hello, my wife’s mum died a few months ago, she and her brother are executors of their mums will. The estate agents selling their mums house has asked for identification to prove their identity for new money laundering rules. The reason I am writing is that my deceased mother in law named a solicitor as an executor also and the estate agents says they need their identity checked too. Does anybody know if this is right as the solicitor has nothing to do with the profits of the house and has just been named for probate reasons.Thanks Dave

The EA's clients are all three executors, jointly. The EA has a legal requirement to satisfy themselves as to the identity of every client.

You shouldn't need to check personal ID of someone who is themselves acting in a regulated profession. I'm sure the solicitor can sort it out though.
