Hi people
We moved into new house 6 months ago, have an Ideal Elan 2 boiler with no instructions. When we have put heating on it seems to just stop with 30 mins or so (boiler just stops working, then have to switch off and on a few times b4 it works, or it switches itself off on control panel) we got a quote to replace with a new combi boiler today at £2500, does this seem, 1-right to replace in the first place? 2-seem a reasonable price?
This is my first time on this great website so please be nice!
Thanks!

if the boiler is old then a new combi is the way to go.
depending where you live, the cost can be anything between 1000 and 4500 quid.
here in the NW, i know corgi fitters that will replace a boiler for 1500 quid.

I think we're best to get a few quotes in to compare0 -

Good morning: Which version of the Elan 2 do you have? Some models have open flues and my OH, Corgi Guy, would advise replacement of any open flued appliances with a new appliance (safety first:eek: ). If you want to replace your existing boiler you should get at least 3 written, full specification quotes from CORGIs recommended to you by a source you trust or alternatively visit www.trustcorgi.com to find an installer near you. £2500 isn't an over the top price for a good combi installed by an experienced CORGI with a well earned reputation for competence and honesty.
