AMEX increase not yet applied?

Hey everyone,
Yesterday I submitted a credit limit increase to AMEX for £10,000 - got an instant decision and they came back to me with a counter-offer of £9,500, was more than happy with this so I accepted the offer. Of course, as always, with AMEX the limit instantly reflected on my online account, this morning I logged in to see my credit limit was back down to where it was prior to the increase, upon contacting AMEX they advised me that the offer was approved although this hasn't been applied to my card as of yet, they've told me this can take 24 hours - which seems a little odd as all information on their site points to it being available within 15 minutes of being approved. Has anyone been in a similar situation with them? I've contacted their online chat since calling them to get them to confirm the credit limit on their side, the rep that I was speaking with told me my limit, which was the pre-increase limit on the card, when I mentioned I had spoken to their credit limit team and they confirmed £9,500 on the phone to me he apologised and said he can see the 'request' for £9,500 however it hasn't been applied yet, it all seems a bit strange when the limit was applied but then removed the following day, considering that they approved the limit in the first place!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, feel like I'm going round in circles.

Could be that it has been referred back to the credit team as something has shown up.Life in the slow lane0
