Ice Maker Still not Working

Bought samsung 4 door fridge freezer with ice-maker in 2017 from John Lewis with extended 5 year warranty for 1700. It was a considered purchase at that price. The ice maker has now not working properly for the 6th time. Last time repaired October 2019, and it has now not working right again. Spoke to John Lewis who in October we said we wanted a new fridge freezer, just sent another engineer. They just put us through to Samsung who we told that we wanted either new fridge freezer or refund, they said they would escalate the claim, the same that was said in October. Today an engineer has rung to say coming on Saturday. Should we not have engineer, last one said nothing else could be done. What can we do any advice please.

New one  depends upon the terms of the extended  warranty .What does this warranty actually say ??
Samsung no entitled to nothing from them .
New one under Consumer Regulations no not after that length of time .

    Two sets of rights .
One against the warranty subject to what the warranty says .
Two against the vendor subject to Consumer law .
  • We thought under the 6 year rule we would have more rights. It’s wether we continue with engineers or ask for new or refund. The warranty was with it when bought a 5 year one.

The "6 year rule" is merely the Limitations Act ... the time within which you can bring a claim.

Is the freezer working or not working? headline suggests your freezer isn’t working but you go on to say you’ve a faulty ice maker and don’t mention the freezer
You need to read terms of the extended warranty and see what it says about item being unrepairable and what happens in that case, also I’d engineer calls and says that this is the case than get him to write that in his report to Samsung
Makes it easier to get a resolution from Samsung If engineer puts that in his report

  • Is that better I have changed the heading. Can we do anything on that it’s not fit for the reason we bought it. The question is do we carry on with engineers every couple of months or refuse after 6 times of it going wrong.

We thought under the 6 year rule we would have more rights.
( as said six year is not a right to have it refunded replaced .)
It’s wether we continue with engineers or ask for new or refund.
( Under what would you be claiming for a new one ??
Warranty you bought . Does it say will replace with new ??)
The warranty was with it when bought a 5 year one.
( Again what does that warranty give you beside the word warranty )

KEY is what are you trying to claim a new one under ??
