Credit Union for Savings

Hi All,
We had a money advisor in work this week whom advised me that due to better interest rates a Credit Union would be a good place for my £5k that's sitting in a current account doing nothing. Is this the best option if I want to easily access my savings?
I also have a regular saving's account with HSBC, Nationwide, M&S and First Direct, as well as the current account at 3% with TSB. All of these accounts are maxed out.

Credit unions may have better rates than some savings accounts but it's certainly not a given, and for someone who's familiar with maxing out interest via current accounts and regular savers it's less likely to be relevant.
However, read up on them, and follow the links to review offerings in your area, at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-unions/#saving and compare the outcome with what's available at https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/savings-accounts-best-interest/3
