Have I installed my bathroom tap correctly?

Fitted my new bathroom sink tap directly onto the compression fitting but it is spraying water everywhere when I turn the water supply back on. Is there a piece missing or could it be bad quality Flexi hoses? The tap was from eBay.

Thanks!

Is it leaking from the flexi to the shut off valve? Possibly a faulty one - is the seal present in the flexi?

Connected the hose to the valve? This is not a "compression fitting".
Where exactly is the water leaking from? If it's between the hose and the valve, then there had to be a rubber washer inside the hoses's nut. Is it there?
  • Yes leaking between the isolating valve and the flexi, there is a small black washer there yes.

How was the original tap connected?

This washer is supposed to seal the gap. If there is a leak, then it either is not compressed well enough or is faulty.
What tools did you use to tighten the nut?

Is the flexi tail the correct size, ie, is it 15mm and not 3/8"?
Also, as mentioned, how was the original tap connected?

Be aware, that most isolating valves do not have a flat surface so won't always make a clean connection with the washer in your flexi tail.
