Hi yes the solicitors are premier property lawyers and there account was in the uk and my santander account is also in the uk.
Another strange thing that happened after I complained was I got an email shortly after from Santander saying

My names not even mr friar. I called the number and they wanted to know the amount and the reference number there was so much confusion.
It was a genuine santander phone number and he said they will find the money.

CHAPS is actioned by the bank not the solicitors. Would have missed the cut-off for processing on Monday. Transfer would have been effected this morning. If you didn't tell the bank that the money was on the way. May well have been caught in the banks internal systems.
  • It is not completely unheard of mistakes in inputting either the sort code or account number in processing a CHAPS payment.
If a mistake did happen the payment should bounce back to the sender - if not then Santander is sitting on it pending an investigation as to whom it actually belongs.

No I didn't tell my bank. I would have expected them to.be able to see where it was though if that was the case. I even went into a branch in manchester and the branch manager assured me the money hadn't touched the account.

The account number and sort code on the remittance and the swift message proof that I was sent are correct. If rbs have sent it to the wrong account is it there job to get it back ? Basically what I'm asking is could I lose my money? I'm stressed as its my lifes savings there.
  • I had similar issue with santander but as the sender. They were incompetent and was sticky for fraud checks

How long did it take to get resolved ?
  • No you will not lose your money - indeed, by now you could be coming on here to say it has been resolved?
