Car accident...No commuting cover

  • Yes it doesn’t look good. However it’s not quite as clear when selecting off a mobile device.

     My policy states commuting ‘no’

I have selected the incorrect usage, but by no means was it done deliberately to save money. Human error and not fully understanding the meaning of commuting maybe

The fact that you selected the wrong type of cover is not an excuse. It's clearly stated on the policy that that it doesn't cover commuting. Whether the quote would have been cheaper with commuting added is immaterial.

What is so difficult to understand what commuting means? It's not some obscure legal term. Even if it was it's clearly explained on the comparison site.

I do feel for you as it sounds like a genuine mistake.  Unfortunately though you actually purchased a product that didn't cover the circumstances.  The fact that it would have been cheaper with commuting is irrelevant unfortunately.

It'd be the same as for example purchasing home insurance without cover for flooding and then complaining the insurer won't pay after your house floods.

I think you'll struggle to get anywhere with a complaint I'm afraid.   Your best bet may be to plead with them that it was a genuine mistake and hope for a gesture of goodwill.
