Air Italy : Latest airline to stop flying

Air Italy have announced today that the airline will close and the business liquidated. Flight will cease as soon as 25 February 2020.
The airline was only formed two years ago with great fanfare at the time. The airline rebranded from Meridiana and had a massive cash injection from Qatar Airways (who owned 49%). It had been hoped that Air Italy would take over from and become the Italian flag carrier, after Alitalia was finally put out of its misery. With Alitalia operating under bankruptcy protection for the past three years, much to the annoyance of the EU, when Alitalia does eventually close Italy faces not having there own main air carrier.

The airline is accepting applications for a full refund for those booked to travel, both after their closure but also with travel booked prior.
