Vehicle issue

Hi
We just collected our car after it was misdiagnosed as the clutch needing replacing. However it was not the issue and it was a leak above the clutch, which is covered under Kia warranty. The clutch was low but had plenty of miles left as only 48,000. We payed £412 for the clutch and the Kia service manager offered us £100 for our next visit. However the car would be out of Kia warranty and we would not through Kia. I did not accept and collected the car, should we pursue further or leave alone.

Pursue for £312 on what grounds and against Kia or the dealer ??Are you willing to give them the brand new clutch back ??0

60,000 miles for a clutch in general youve had 3/4 use so £100 seems reasonable. Id come out with something about having no confidence in that garage to justify accepting the discount. Not to mention itll have conditions surrounding its validity (like kia trading, not suggesting they are about to go out of business like.) and push for the cash.
Depends how much you want to argue it. Ultimately youre going to be talking at most £100 worth of value 'owed' to you. To get that youll need to argue it out with the dealer, then take it to court when they say no and then try and recover the money. I cant imagine the effort and time is worth £100, principles are completely different though.
Just thought, a very quick resolution to this, if it comes in the form of a voucher, is to go and collect your money off voucher, nip round to the services section and find a customer about to pay, offer them the £100 discount for £90 say. Harder if its put on an account as such.0 -
I'd say 60,000 miles per clutch is very poor; I'd expect at least 100k from one - so I'd argue for half the value refunded.0

I feel you shouldn't pay a penny as it wasn't the clutch. Is this a rear oil seal or something? Did it contaminate the clutch? If so, then they should have replaced the clutch anyway as part of the warranty. So, you could be paying for a warranty repair.
I'd be pushing for either your old clutch back, or they swallow the cost as their mistake.0 -
