Kabbee refund

I have a query about a refund issue.
June 2019: booked taxis via Kabbee. Two failed to arrive. Kabbee offered a refund to my online account for future use.
10 Dec 2019: I did not use the service again so closed the account and requested the refund.
Jan 2020: Not received so requested again.
Feb 2020: Received following -
Kabbee has moved to new payment processor who don’t have your card details.
So need to do a bank transfer. To do this need the following:
Send us a bank statement showing account number, sort code and last 4 digits of card ending in .... (last four digits actually included, eg. Send us last four digits of card ending in 1234!)
If bank statement doesn’t have last four digits then provide a photo of the card with the bank statement.
Alternatively a letter from your bank confirming bank account belongs to the card holder who transacted with Kabbee.
To comply with GDPR please upload these documents to my.smartvault.com.
Queried all this as it seems excessive for a refund! For a bank transfer don’t you just need sort code and account number, name of account holder?
I queried this, said I’m not prepared to upload copies of my bank statement or photo of my debit card.
Kabbee response:
Payment provider archives payments older than 12 months so can’t search for them. (My refund was 10th December last year, original payments made to Kabbee for the taxis was June 2019, so not 12 months).
Have to do it this way to comply with GDPR.
My question is, is this legitimate. Uploading a copy of bank statement and a photo of my debit card feels suspicious to me.
Do I really have to do this to get a refund (£21.00)?
Or is this a tactic to try and dissuade me from actually pushing for my refund?

I would say that they need proof that the card is linked to the account they are making the payment to.Life in the slow lane1

I don’t have that card anymore. It’s been replaced. Plus the idea of uploading a photo of a debit card and a copy of my bank statement to the internet feels really unsafe to me.0

Ask your bank for the card number & exp.
Block out all the account details you don't want them to see & just give the last 4 of the card as they have asked for.
All they are doing is checking your are the account holder that had the app.Life in the slow lane1 -
Hi I have the same issue, card long expired. They contacted me a while back and card was expired then and contacted me again now. Last time they told me they needed evidence of the card originally linked and can't use the new card. Did anyone manage to get around this ??

Contact your bank and get the old card number.

Sounds like Kabbee wants to discourage you from bothering, particularly as theyre closing down and probably sacked all staff by now. can't they just send you a cheque?
Or maybe try Resolver (not used it myself). not able to post a link here but search 'kabbee resolver' and you'll find it.0 -
Anyone who had prepaid balance with Kabbee... your money has now been pocketed by the shareholders.
Read the latest liquidator's statement, publicly available on the Companies House website (Kabbee Exchange Limited, company 08105094).
This means the company director, by far the largest single shareholder, will have collected several hundred thousand pounds, after it was conveniently too difficult to return it to customers. What a great business!!0
