Thoughts on Boiler Issue Please
Options
Hi All. I recently bought a one-bedroomed flat, and I would appear to have a few options with my boiler which a survey said has a plate is faulty and needs replacing. My options would appear to be as follows:
1. Get a new boiler - Worcester Borsch 200 25kw boiler with 6 six year warranty, cost for boiler, parts and installation is £1495
2. Get my ten-year old Greenstar 28i Junior Combi Mark III repaired for £350
3. On the advice of a work colleague, get a protection plan on my current boiler. On ringing the manufacturer, the boiler is not registered, and I've no idea of the costs involved because I got cut off during the phone conversation, but maybe someone else on here has experience of this sort of thing?
Thanks, all.

<get a protection plan on my current boiler>On a Ten year old boiler will they cover ??Ten years old you have to be aware that parts may no longer be available and could be a waste of £350.I would be looking at the new boiler if you intend to stay .1

Get a decent engineer to take a look I remove the plated heat exchange and descale it refit for about 100 on these1

If it's only 10 years old, I would expect parts to still be available. You might as well get it fixed by a local independent plumber.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
