Posting letter to the EU from the UK.

Hi. Posting here as this seems like the most suitable category.
I want to send a couple of 'business size' letters from the UK to EU countries. Does anyone know if I can just put a few first class stamps on them and then post in the local post-box? I presume that whilst we're still in the EU I don't have to fill in any 'customs forms' or anything like that. I've read online that the cost of a letter to the EU is £1.35, so if I put 3 first class stamps (without the stated price on them) on the letters, that should more than cover the cost, right?
It's minus 9c here with the wind-chill and possibly more importantly I'd rather not have to pay a £12 return taxi fair just to go to the nearest post office in the town centre. So even if I put more than the postage cost on, it will still save me money.
Thanks.
